2020 has undeniably been a hard year. The pandemic has definitely been anxiety provoking for many of us, including our children! I don’t know about you guys, but when my kids seem stressed, it makes ME stressed.
We recently discovered the sweetest interactive toy called Purrble that actually helps kids cope with big emotions. Studies show that kids can learn to calm themselves by calming others. By soothing Purrble, kids learn how to self-soothe when big emotions arise!
We have been using Purrble throughout our transition moving both of our boys (ages 7 and 3) into the same bedroom. Having a new, comforting friend for Benji at night has really helped him calm down when we leave the room! He always tells us he’s Purrble’s “mommy” and that he needs to hold him and take good care of him 🙂
The idea of the toy is to help transform battles and tantrums into moments of calm. It was developed through a rich research process, studying the behavior mechanisms that underpin fidgeting and how engaging gameplay can help children focus, calm down, and manage big emotions. Preliminary research conducted with real families during COVID showed that:
Here’s how it works:
*Purrble’s heart beats quickly once you turn him on.
*You child learns to comfort and snuggle Purrble, slowing his heart beat.
*Once he is calm, he purrs! This lets your child know they’ve done a good job helping to soothe him.
Purrble is designed to be discovered by children, allowing them to build a special bond. It arrives in a “live animal” box as a gift from Dr. Pita Treebury – a scientist who needs help taking care of the Purrbles. The boys were SO excited to see what was in the box when it first arrived! My husband came home from work and asked if there was really a live animal in there– LOL!
Turn Purrble on, place the box on your doorstep, and ring the bell – or hide the box in your child’s bedroom. Enjoy as they discover their new cuddly companion! Hand him to your child when they are on the brink of a meltdown, struggling with daily transitions, or just experiencing a tough time.
Let me know what you think if you decide to purchase him for your little ones!
XO
