WINTER BREAK BUCKET LIST

by | Dec 17, 2021 | Motherhood

Winter break is upon us! Many of us will have kids home for the next couple of weeks. And it’s cold… which means it’s very easy to get cooped up and drive each other crazy 😜

I’m making it a personal goal to do some fun/engaging activities with the kids over break to fight boredom, fist fights, and excessive screen time!

Below is a list of ideas that I made for myself. Wanted to share with you all in case you’re in the same boat!

WINTER BREAK BUCKET LIST:

  1. Bake/decorate cookies together! Go to the store and pick out a couple of fun cookie-cutters and supplies to decorate. And then give yourself a pep-talk to not stress too much over the mess!
  2. Go through clothes/toys and set things aside to donate. Take the kids with you to donate to a local shelter!
  3. Make blessing bags together. We like to fill little baggies with things like hand warmers, $5 fast food gift cards, travel-sized toiletries, etc. We keep them in our car to hand to homeless people we see while out and about.
  4. Make homemade play-dough! This is actually super easy and can keep the kids occupied for a while.
  5. Visit a museum or science center! If you’re in Columbus, we are planning to take a trip to COSI to see their Marvel exhibit and the boys are so excited!
  6. Make gingerbread houses! Pro tip: hot glue the house together for your kids before they start decorating it to avoid it crumbling.
  7. Make a scavenger hunt for candy canes! You could do this inside or outside.
  8. Take a trip to the library to pick out new books.
  9. Have a blind ice cream taste test 🙂
  10. Make homemade Christmas cards for family you’ll see over break.
  11. Have a family Christmas movie night with popcorn and treats.
  12. Make a huge fort with blankets/pillows/couch cushions!
  13. Make your own “snow paint” if it snows! All you need is a squeeze bottle, food coloring, and water.
  14. Make “grinch pancakes”– just add a little green food coloring!
  15. Build huge snowmen or igloos using marshmallows and toothpicks! Inspiration here.
  16. Make reindeer food! Just combine oatmeal, festive sprinkles and glitter into a jar or bag. Sprinkle it on the lawn on Christmas eve! We made some for friends too. Here is a cute free printable you can use!
  17. Make a hot chocolate bar!
  18. Make a reservation at an indoor trampoline park and let them burn off some energy.
  19. Create your own bowling alley with solo cups and a small ball. Solo cups seem to keep my kids occupied for hours!
  20. Bundle up and get outside when the sun is shining. It will be cold, but worth it to get everyone some vitamin D and fresh air!

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and winter break!!!! Try to enjoy it as much as you can. XO

Hello

I’m Elizabeth

I’m a wife, a mom of three boys, a stylist, and a not-your-typical blogger. I started this blog as a creative outlet after I left my fun-but-demanding job at an ad agency. It’s grown into such a fun, no judgment, community of women that have become virtual friends.  I am so glad you’re here!

Check these out too!
