Here are a few tips:
- Don’t think about matching. Instead, think about finding items that complement each other. Being too matchy can look cheesy!
- Think about where you envision using the photos. If they will be on a wall in your home, consider coordinating your color scheme with the room they’ll be in. If they’ll be used for Christmas cards, consider going more neutral, or using subtle hints of red or green.
- Avoid too many patterns, or any big distracting logos!
- Dress for the weather! There is nothing worse than sweating like crazy or being freezing during a photo session.
- Think about the season. Will the leaves be turning? Consider playing off of the natural colors that will be around you!
- Use layering and accessorizing to add texture! Think: a sweater over a dress, a hat, etc.
