Benji’s Nursery Tour!

by | Jan 15, 2019 | Home, Motherhood

When we had Peter Joseph over five years ago, we were in a small condo that we rented, so I didn’t get to do much “design” in terms of the nursery. When I found out I was pregnant with Benjamin, I was SO excited to actually design a nursery and do whatever I wanted with it since we own our house now!

The family that lived in our house before us used this room as a place for their grandkids to sleep. They had two twin beds in here, with the headboards on the far wall that our crib is on. It was so adorable and someday I’d love to do the same thing with it, once the boys are a little older.

Our crib, rocking chair and dresser are the same ones we used for Peter, and were both from Babies ‘R’ Us, which is no longer in business! I still can’t believe they closed all of their stores. Part of me was really sad when I heard the news they were going out of business because I have so many memories of walking around there when I was pregnant the first time, just trying to figure out what the HELL I was going to need for a new baby.

Some helpful hints and things I swear by in your baby’s nursery:

  • White noise machine— this is my all-time favorite and I’ve used TONS. It goes up super loud and stays on all night long, plus has multiple different soothing sounds to choose from.
  • If you have a newborn, I suggest getting a little lamp with a red light bulb (any will work). When Benji was super tiny, we had a professional doula come and stay with us to give me a hand and help me get a little sleep. She also gave me tons of AMAZING pointers for helping their sleep patterns, and one thing was a red bulb. It’s the only color of light that doesn’t mess with your baby’s melatonin levels. This is great if you have to go in to do a nighttime feeding or diaper change!
  • Rocking chair and crib for obvious reasons 🙂
  • Lots of books to help your baby wind down before bedtime.

Linking as many of the decorative items as I still can for you guys below!

If you guys have any additional questions about the nursery, just comment below and I will get back to you ASAP!

Hello

I’m Elizabeth

I’m a wife, a mom of three boys, a stylist, and a not-your-typical blogger. I started this blog as a creative outlet after I left my fun-but-demanding job at an ad agency. It’s grown into such a fun, no judgment, community of women that have become virtual friends.  I am so glad you’re here!

Check these out too!
