VIRTUAL HOME/WARDROBE STYLING

Honeymoon Recap

by | Nov 27, 2018 | Lifestyle

Our honeymoon was basically the most amazing thing I could have ever imagined.  Other than the day that I had about 4 too many Pina Coladas and brought a party of strangers back to our villa and then ruined our whole plan for the night because I was such a hot mess.  That part wasn’t that amazing.

THAT PARTICULAR DAY ASIDE…it truly was paradise.  Planning a wedding with a toddler and a baby and just the craziness of life was extremely stressful and taxing.  Plus, Peter and I had never been on a vacation alone & without kids for more than 2 days, ever.  In our entire existence!!!

Needless to say, a tropical escape for a full week with no agenda was a dream.  We went to Cabo and stayed at the One & Only Palmilla in one of their villas. We were treated like royalty our entire stay and we had a private butler for anything/everything we needed.  They gave us a separate iPhone to contact him at any time.  We may or may not have texted him for ranch dressing and an apple one night.  He followed through without question.

The infinity pool and hot tub on the deck of our villa. *heart eyes*

If you have the chance to visit Cabo in October, I highly recommend it.  The weather was absolute perfection.  It was hot and sunny every single day with almost no humidity (great news for the weave).

I cannot even put into words how amazing every little thing about the resort was.  I’ll give you my highlights here because I could go on forever but I’m sure you’d rather have the cliff notes 😉

  1. It felt very safe.  Some people have the impression that Cabo is super dangerous, but it depends on where you are.  The Palmilla is tucked way back off the main road, and guarded by a few different gated entries.
  2. The SPA you guys… it is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced.  Granted I’m not the most seasoned spa-goer, but there were several women I spoke too that were, and they agreed.  Before your services they have a sauna and steam room that you alternate between. Then you walk outside into a luscious little jungle area to a plunge pool. If you’re unfamiliar with what a plunge pool is, read about the benefits of it here!  Once you’ve experience all that magic, you can relax for a few minutes with ice cold cucumbers on your eyes and a cool towel on your forehead.  THEN it’s time for your actual spa service in one of their outdoor spa villas!  I had a facial, a 60 minute massage and a 90 minute hot stone couple’s massage during our week there.  No. freaking. words.  And to top it all off, once you’re done with your service, they give you a small cup of their signature cold tea with a piece of chocolate covered dried fruit. I don’t even care for dried fruit, but this dried fruit was sent from God.  Am I being dramatic? Never.
  3. A super nice, free gym, plus a fresh juice bar.  Daily yoga classes followed by a green juice made right in front of me with fresh produce.  The perfect way to detox in the morning (only to retox a few hours later…duh!)
  4. The FOOD. There are 3 different restaurants on the property: Seared (a steakhouse), Agua (Mexican farm-to-table), Suviche (fresh sushi). We ate at all three multiple times and it never disappointed, even in the slightest!  Our favorite was definitely the sushi though.  I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to look at sushi the same after having it at Palmilla.  So fresh, so delicious. One of the days of our trip, Peter went on a private fishing excursion and the Japanese sushi chef made us a 6 course meal using the fresh fish he caught that day.  It was incredible.  There was no menu, so the chef was able to be completely creative and make us whatever he wanted using what Peter caught hours before!  It was insanely good.
  5. The adults pool, vs. the kids pool.  I really loved this because if you’re a honeymooner like us and need a break from the kids, you can hang out by the adults pool.  Plus they make extremely stiff drinks and offer free 10 minute foot massages on a daily basis while you bask in the sun and relax.  Need I say more?  The family pool was even larger than the adults pool and dare I say it was even more beautiful.  Both of the pools had a view that looked like something out of a movie though– infinity pools overlooking the Sea of Cortez, surrounded by palm trees and bright blue skies.
  6. The KidsOnly Club!  We obviously didn’t have our kids with us on this trip, but we did check out their kids camp to see if it would be suitable for a future family vacation (please Peter?).  It was pretty much the coolest kids camp I’ve ever seen.  Fully equipped with a mini library, an outdoor “theatre”, and a full playground– plus special seasonal activities such as pizza making, golf lessons, jewelry making, etc., I could just imagine Peter Joseph EATING this place UP.  It’s open to 4-11 year olds from 9am-7pm, 365 days a year.  Hello kidless day dates!
  7. The private yacht.  Ok so I don’t think I really need to elaborate on this much because “private yacht” pretty much covers it.  A private driver took us to a marina in Cabo San Lucas (downtown area), we boarded the boat and were met by a small crew with cocktails and a fruit/cheese tray, and then cruised around and watched the sunset over Lover’s Beach while served a steak dinner.  Once the sun went down, we cuddled up on the back of the boat and star gazed while we docked and were driven back to the resort.  Sounds horrible right?

We really didn’t leave the resort much, but if you’re in Cabo you definitely need to check out Flora Farms. It’s a 25 acre organic farm that uses their own homegrown food in the little restaurant, which is seriously straight out of Instagram.  It was a great place to go to escape the resort for a delicious lunch and some live music right in front of the rows of crops!

Overall we had an amazing time in Cabo, specifically at the One&Only Palmilla.  I have legitimately dreamt about being back there again with Peter, without a care in the world.  I will cherish that week we had alone together and cannot thank my husband enough for planning an absolutely unforgettable trip.

See you again someday Palmilla! <3
