A few weeks ago, I lead a week-long self-care challenge on Instagram. The goal was to encourage my audience to take a little time out of each day to focus on themselves.
None of the “challenges” for each day took an immense amount of time or effort. It was more so a fun way for us to connect with each other, and be intentional about taking care of ourselves!
“If we don’t do things to keep our own cups full, we’ll have nothing to give or share with others.“
I thought I would share the outline of the challenge so it could live here on my blog, just in case anyone is new around here or would like to do the challenge sometime on your own!
Again, my intention with this challenge is to provide tips/motivation to make yourself a priority and do something for YOU, every day, for 7 days. The goal by the end of the week is to feel so good that you want to adopt some of these ideas and make them part of your daily routine!
Here’s the overview!
Day 1, Monday:
Drink a gallon of water throughout the day. That’s right…a gallon! It’s really not that hard. Grab your biggest water bottle and look at how many ounces it holds. A gallon is 128 ounces. If you have a 32 ounce water bottle, that’s only 4 refills. You can do it!!

Day 2, Tuesday:
Start the day with some gratitude and self love. Write down 5 things you’re grateful for, and 5 things you love about yourself. (Also, don’t feel embarrassed or ashamed if you have a hard time thinking of 5 things you love about yourself. I recently had to answer this question during a therapy session and it made me feel extremely uncomfortable and to be honest, it took me a while to come up with 5 things. But that’s the point– a big part of self care is learning to love yourself, flaws and all).

Day 3, Wednesday:
Cut out one of your biggest vices for one whole day. Is there something you might be mildly addicted to? Maybe it’s sugar, caffeine, wine/alcohol, cigarettes? Try to omit it for just one day. #yougotthis

Day 4, Thursday:
Try to eat something GREEN at least twice today. That doesn’t mean snacking on raw broccoli if that’s not your thing. Maybe you add a little avocado to your eggs. Maybe it’s a handful of spinach in a smoothie (you can’t taste it, I promise!). Maybe it’s a salad or veggie wrap for lunch instead of something fried. I’ll give you some more ideas Wednesday evening!

Day 5, Friday:
Wake up half an hour earlier than you normally do, and use it however it will benefit YOU. Maybe you use this time to drink your coffee slowly and in silence before your kids wake up. Maybe you use it to get ready more slowly, and ease into your day without instantly being rushed and stressed the second you wake up. I like to wake up before my kids to get my workout in and make a priority list for my day. It sets my day off to such a good start!

Day 6, Saturday:
Exercise for at least 20 minutes. This doesn’t mean you have to go sign up for a class or buy a gym membership. It could be a brisk walk at the park with your stroller, or looking up a YouTube video and doing it in your living room. However you can manage to fit it in, just try to break a sweat, get your heart rate up, and get some endorphins running through your body!

Day 7, Sunday:
You’ve made it! Celebrate by doing something indulgent for yourself…alone if possible. This might mean hiding in your pantry and enjoying your favorite chocolate. Or, maybe you go get a pedicure… or go buy something nice for yourself like a new pair of shoes you’ve had your eye on. Give your spouse a head’s up now that you need an hour next Sunday because you… deserve. ..to treat yo’self!
